Real-Time Blood Flow Estimation Using a Recursive Least-Squares Lattice Filter

چکیده

Ultrasonic flow estimation involves Fourier-transforming data from successive pulses. The standard periodogram spectral estimate does not reflect the true velocity distribution in the blood and assumes quasi-stationarity in the data. Last year [l], we demonstrated that a recursive lattice filter can yield results much closer to the correct velocity distribution. We have now implemented it in real time on a system with sixteen ADSP-21060 processors, interfaced to a commercial scanner. The system can perform real-time processing for both the periodogram nd lattice-filter approaches and displays both results on a PC for comparison. Results are shown for phantom data and for demodulated data from the aorta and hepatic vein of a healthy subject. This demonstrates under clinical conditions that the lattice filter gives a more realistic velocity distribution and can track rapid changes in the flow.

Fault Detection and Identification Using Parameter Estimation Techniques

This paper focuses on the use of parameter estimation techniques for the implementation of real-time Fault Detection and Diagnosis schemes. A detailed analysis of the nonrecursive and recursive Least Squares methods is given in the context of the system diagnosis problem, and a procedure for performing fault detection and identification for multivariable systems is proposed. An application exam...

Systolic Algorithms for Recursive Total Least Squares Parameter Estimation and Mixed RLS/RTLS Problems

Total least squares parameter estimation is an alternative to least squares estimation though much less used in practice, partly due to the absence of eecient recursive algorithms or parallel architectures. Here it is shown how previously developed systolic algorithms/architectures for recursive least squares estimation can be used for recursive total least squares problems. Unconstrained as we...

This paper proposes a new adaptive filtering algorithm called the Huber Prior Error-Feedback Least Squares Lattice (H-PEF-LSL) algorithm for robust adaptive filtering in impulse noise environment. It minimizes a modified Huber M-estimator based cost function, instead of the least squares cost function. In addition, the simple modified Huber M-estimate cost function also allows us to perform the...

A Comparison of Recursive Least Squares Estimation and Kalman Filtering for Flow in Open Channels

An integrated approach to the design of an automatic control system for canals using a Linear Quadratic Gaussian regulator based on recursive least squares estimation was developed. The one-dimensional partial differential equations describing open channel flow (Saint-Venant) equations are linearized about an average operating condition of the canal. The concept of optimal control theory is app...

Recursive Optical Flow Estimation - Adaptive Filtering Approach

This paper presents a new approach towards the problem of recursive optical flow estimation from image sequences based on the differential framework proposed by Horn & Schunck. We show that gain is achieved both from computational and accuracy points of view when treating the estimation task recursively. Incorporation of the temporal axis into the estimation process is done by combining a tempo...
